Who/what inspired you to enter into the education field?
I was inspired by all the educators that are in my family.
Tell us about your family? (children, pets, etc.)
I have two boys that keep me on my toes. They are both active in sports and always looking for an adventure.
What is your Teacher Leader Mission? YOUR WHY in the classroom? How do you #LeadTheCHARGE daily?
As a special education teacher, my mission is to move my kids toward grade level. Filling the gap is how I #LeadTheCHARGE.
What is one attribute of leadership that you think is critical to possess as a Teacher Leader. Why?
Being reliable is one attribute I feel every Teacher Leader should possess. Both students and coworkers need to know that they can depend on you to support and push them both academically and professionally.
What are ways that you engage families as part of the learning in your classroom/school?
Being in the Special Education setting, I have the opportunity to meet with families on a scheduled or as needs basis. Families are always encouraged to call the school to address any questions or needs they may have at any point throughout the year.
What “fingerprint” or lasting impression do you want to leave at your school or on your students?
I want every student to leave my class feeling like they can achieve any dream they possess.
How do you maximize the strengths of those around you?
I collaborate with my team on a wide variety of activities. It’s great having a team to bounce ideas around with and find ways to increase student achievement.
What do you like most about teaching?
I enjoy seeing past students who are graduating and making a life for themselves remember the fun times we had at the elementary level.
