Who/what inspired you to enter into the education field?
I had a fantastic middle school social studies teacher that inspired me…to become a middle social studies teacher! She is also responsible for introducing me to CHARGE!
Tell us about your family? (children, pets, etc)
I am happily raising a cat named Wally.
What is your Teacher Leader Mission? YOUR WHY in the classroom? How do you #LeadTheCHARGE daily?
Our daily class goal is to leave the classroom as happy and energized as we entered it, if not more so. Our other class goal is to perform the learning target as awesomely as we can. Those are my teacher leader missions. My why in the classroom are the students. My students and I #LeadTheCHARGE by focusing on sustainable, measurable progress each and every day.
What is one attribute of leadership that you think is critical to possess as a Teacher Leader. Why?
An attribute that helps a Teacher Leader is resiliency and the ability to view each second as a fresh start.
What are ways that you engage families as part of the learning in your classroom/school?
My students engage their families in learning through interactive learning logs. Students love being able to show off their progress to their families.
What “fingerprint” or lasting impression do you want to leave at your school or on your students?
My greatest accomplishment would be to model positive character traits in a way that makes students want to develop those traits.
How do you maximize the strengths of those around you?
We can maximize the strengths of those around us by reminding everyone of their value, worth, and importance.
What do you like most about teaching?
Students are the best part of teaching.
